QPR owner Tony Fernandes has found something else to occupy himself in the wake of his club’s disastrous relegation from the Premier League.
The AirAsia boss made a bet with Virgin owner Richard Branson at the 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that his team, at the time known as Lotus Cosworth, would beat Branson’s Virgin team.
The loser would have to dress as an air hostess of the other’s airline, and finally three years afterwards, Branson has honoured the forfeit.
Whilst serving the drinks on the flight Branson spilled a whole tray over Fernandes, who said to Malaysian reporters: ‘I wanted to kill him actually.
‘He looked at me, I said, ”don’t you dare,” and the next thing I know, he tipped the whole tray on me.
‘He and the girls mopped it up, but I was walking around the flight in my underwear for a while because I didn’t bring another pair of trousers.’
Loic Remy gave the home side the lead with a penalty after just 11 minutes, but goals from Hatem Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran secured three points for Newcastle, and, in contrast to their opponents, secure their place in the Premier League for next year.
