Which Premier League chairman made Richard Branson dress up as one of his own air hostesses… and then ended up strolling around the plane in his trousers?

QPR owner Tony Fernandes has found something else to occupy himself in the wake of his club’s disastrous relegation from the Premier League.

The AirAsia boss made a bet with Virgin owner Richard Branson at the 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that his team, at the time known as Lotus Cosworth, would beat Branson’s Virgin team.

The loser would have to dress as an air hostess of the other’s airline, ast and finally three years afterwards, Branson has honoured the forfeit.

In the all important race only one driver from each team managed to finish, and it was an extremely tight affair. Lotus’ Heikki Kovalainen came 17th, with Virgin’s Lucas di Grassi 18th.

Whilst serving the drinks on the flight Branson spilled a whole tray over Fernandes, who said to Malaysian reporters: ‘I wanted to kill him actually.

‘He looked at me, I said, ”don’t you dare,” and the next thing I know, he tipped the whole tray on me.

‘He and the girls mopped it up, but I was walking around the flight in my underwear for a while because I didn’t bring another pair of trousers.’dg

QPR played their penultimate game in this season’s Premier League against Newcastle at Loftus Road, but lost 2-1 after taking the lead.

Loic Remy gave the home side the lead with a penalty after just 11 minutes, but goals from Hatem Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran secured three points for Newcastle, and, in contrast to their opponents, secure their place in the Premier League for next year.
