Samir Nasri wants central role for Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri is desperate for Arsene Wenger to play him in a more central role rather than out wide.

The Frenchman has been deployed mainly as a wide midfielder since moving to the Emirates Stadium from Samir Nasri Marseille in 2008.  However, the 23-year-old insists that he is much more comfortable in the middle, where he has often played at international level.

Nasri helped France beat Romania 2-0 on Friday night and then said, “That’s where I play best, that’s how I was formed. In every age group at youth level, I often played through the middle.

“I’ve been playing out wide for two years with Arsenal but feel more at ease in the centre of the pitch.”

Nasri has started the season well for Arsenal, proving once again what a menace he can be to defences.  He has scored two goals for the Gunners so far this term, both against West Brom.
