Dutchman Van Persie continued his comeback from injury, playing the second half of Holland’s friendly against Turkey in midweek. He will expect to play a part in Arsenal’s derby clash with Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
However, he will be particularly infuriated if Spurs star Rafael Van Der Vaart proves to be the Gunners’ undoing, having advised Arsenal to sign his Dutch compatriot.
According to The Sun, Van Persie commented on Van Der Vaart, “He’s a great footballer, I know the quality he has.
“I’d rather he was at Arsenal. I indicated a couple of times that Rafael would be useful for Arsenal but that advice was not followed.”
Van Der Vaart has made a big impact since arriving at White Hart Lane, scoring seven goals for Harry Redknapp’s side.
