Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the Blues will be missing French winger Florent Malouda for the trip to Anfield on Sunday to face Liverpool.
Chelsea are five points clear in the Premier League and secured qualification for the knock-out stages of the Champions League with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Spartak Moscow last night.
However, they will have to make do without Malouda as they face Roy Hodgson’s Liverpool side at the weekend.
The 30-year-old has been one of Chelsea’s best players this season and is the top scorer at the club with seven goals so far.
Ancelotti confirmed that Malouda will not line up against the Reds, saying “Malouda has a twist on his ankle, not a big problem but he is not able to play against Liverpool, the week after yes.”
However, the Stamford Bridge boss hopes that England midfielder Frank Lampard will return to action this weekend.
Ancelotti commented, “We hope Frank can play.”
