Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has described Jose Mourinho as ‘the perfect coach’ and says he could not think of anyone better to lead the club.
Mourinho has guided his side to the top of the La Liga table, currently three points ahead of great rivals Barcelona after 11 games.
Khedira, who has featured in seven of those matches, believes much of Madrid’s success is down to the Portuguese boss.
“Mourinho is the perfect coach, not just professionally, but also as a person,” Khedira told Die Welt.
“He helps you, especially when you are not at your best. He never leaves you alone and I cannot think of anyone better than him.”
However, despite their stellar form so far, the Germany international insists his team need to keep their feet on the ground.
“We all agree that we should not speak about titles now. We have to play well and win all we can,” he said.
Borussia Dortmund’s young star Mario Goetze has often been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, and Khedira joked about the 19-year-old midfielder’s future.
“I would say to Goetze ‘come to Madrid’, but no, in reality I am not the person for this,” said the midfielder, who is on international duty with Germany.
Joachim Loew’s side play Ukraine in an international friendly on Friday.
