Former England striker Michael Owen looks to have finally recovered from a hamstring injury and has said that he is available to play for Manchester United over the Christmas period.
The 31-year-old arrived at Old Trafford before the start of last season. He has been plagued by injury and although he has managed 12 goals in just 14 starts, Owen has failed to establish himself in Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
Owen has not played since Manchester United ‘s goalless draw at Sunderland at the start of October. However, he now says that he is available once more.
According to report, Owen said, “I’m fit and I’ve been in full training for 3½ weeks.
“The hard bit now is getting back into the side, trying to force my way back into the squad. That’s not easy at United.
“There are that many quality players at United that you’re given as much time as you need to come back from injury.
“But I’m fit and hope to play a part in the games over Christmas.”
Manchester United will take on Sunderland at Old Trafford on Boxing Day before trips to Birmingham City and West Brom.
