Emmanuel Adebayor has accused Barcelona of acting like ‘cry babies’ after the Catalans beat Real Madrid 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
The on-loan Manchester City striker says Barca do not know the meaning of the word ‘fair play’ and spend most of the time rolling around the floor crying as soon as they are tackled by an opposition player.
Adebayor came on as a half-time substitute after team-mate Pepe was sent off for a tackle on Barcelona’s Daniel Alves but the former Arsenal hitman could not stop their rivals running out 2-0 winners at the Bernabeu.
Maybe Pepe committed a foul but I don’t think it was a red card,’ Adebayor said. ‘Whenever you play against Barca, whenever you touch them they are on the floor crying like a baby.
‘Everyone talks about Barcelona and their fair play but I think they are very far away from fair play.
‘Whenever you make contact when going for a one-on-one or 50-50 ball they are on the floor crying, putting their hand up near their face.
‘Their manager, fans and the players on the bench are always crying. Barcelona is a fantastic club, has fantastic players, but they have to stop that.’
