David De Gea Undergo Special Training Sessions

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed goalkeeper David de Gea has undergone special training David De Gea sessions in order to prepare for the away clash with Stoke.

The 21-year-old made an uncertain start to life at Old Trafford, making several high-profile errors in his first month at the club, despite the team winning all but one of their eight games this season.

Saturday’s opponents Stoke are renowned for their aerial strength, with Rory Delap’s long throws a constant threat, and are expected to put De Gea under pressure at every opportunity.

However, Ferguson revealed he has tried to counter that threat by using special training techniques previously used by former United keeper Edwin Van Der Sar.

“It’s an eye opener for any goalkeeper,” Ferguson said of the Stoke match.

“I remember discussing with Edwin what his position would be in terms of the long throw-in and where he was most comfortable dealing with the situation.

“We got it right then and we are doing the same with David.

“All the work this week has been on his position and where he should be.”
