Chelsea have announced they will not appeal against the red card Jose Bosingwa received at QPR on Sunday.
Bosingwa, 29, was dismissed in the first half of Chelsea’s 1-0 loss after referee Chris Foy adjudged the full back to have denied Shaun Wright-Phillips a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas was critical of Foy in the aftermath of the game, but the club have opted against appealing the decision to hand Bosingwa his marching orders as, should they fail, the Portuguese could miss this weekend’s crunch meeting with Arsenal.
The club’s official Twitter account posted: “There will be no appeal against Jose Bosingwa’s red card on Sunday as that might affect his availability against Arsenal.”
The Blues finished the game at Loftus Road with nine men as Didier Drogba was also sent off, the Ivory Coast international punished for a two-footed challenge on Adel Taarabt.
