with Liverpool on Sunday by claiming that the Reds are in a similar situation to last season’s crisis club Portsmouth.
Liverpool find themselves in unfamiliar territory with Roy Hodgson’s side languishing in the Premier League relegation zone. Allardyce, who had a record of riling Rafa Benitez during his time at Anfield, has turned the knife on Liverpool once again.
According to the Daily Mirror, Allardyce said, “We have to go and be professional and make sure we can perform at Anfield to our very best,
“If we can then we can cause some problems with the lack of confidence that seems to be there at the moment.
“All the pressure of the takeover and the money situation has obviously affected the team. Just like it affected Portsmouth last year, who were relegated.”
In buoyant mood, Allardyce expressed confidence that his Blackburn side can come away from Anfield with something on Sunday.
He continued, “Liverpool are below us and how often do you play Liverpool when they are below you?
“Very, very rarely. We have to take advantage of this situation.
“A lot of their players are not playing to their best. If they start playing to their best it will make life very difficult for us.
“But if we can defend like we did against Sunderland to get a 0-0 draw with 10 men, then we will certainly have a chance.”
